Do you want to know Jesus? Do you want to become like Him? Prayer is vital to that.
In the episode, John explores Jesus' teaching about prayer in Matthew 6:5-8, the second example Jesus gives of doing righteous deeds to be noticed by others. He ends the episode by reflecting on the essence of prayer as seen in the passage.

Hey John....I really appreciated this podcast. I really struggle with the concept of prayer ( I am ashamed to say...) but your thoughts are really helpful. Some questions I'd love for you to address at some point..... should we pray for things like for some one to get better from a cold, for example. Are those prayers innappropriate, considering these things are just part of life? And how do we balance the concepts of praying our heart's desires and knowing that God Knows best for us and our hearts desires might not be at all what is in His will? And what about praying for safe travels? What if it is in God's plan for us to pass away in a car accident? And then there's the concepts of praying for healing. I know it is totally biblical but what if that is just part of the human condition for our bodies to deteriorate? Should we be just accepting of Diseases or should we be praying for healing? And are certain people's prayers more powerful than others? Like if someone is really close to God as opposed to someone who doesn't have a very good relationship to God? And why is it that if more than one person is praying for an issue it becomes a more powerful prayer, according to The Bible?.So... there are my painfully honest questions. I know the appropriate churchy answers but I do tend to still struggle with these issues. No need to respond to me specifically but just food for thought for future teachings may be? Thanks so much for what you're doing!

great lesson! The part where Jesus assumed His disciples would be people of prayer stuck out to me. He wants the relationship even more than we do!
